Hanners has posted a news article.

We've been waiting to see it in action for a while, but AMD's latest CPU architecture, codenamed "Bulldozer", is finally here via the launch of a number of CPUs.  Needless to say, reviews are focusing upon the company's new flagship offering, that being the eight-core FX-8150.  Check out the comprehensive list of reviews below to see how it stacks up.

Read the full story here.

Muropaketti summed it up with one picture.

We wanted heavy duty hardware, we got a plastic toy.

Thanks PenguinJim and Seraph for convincing me not to wait for this disappointing mediocre piece of don´t care.

I've gotten this from more than one person, I think it's meant as a hint:

@DW

Both Pentium 4 and Geforce FX failing were actually good because they were fails by a dominant player and resulted in increased competition in the market. This is not good... at all...

I thought and still think the A8 is pretty great for notebook battery life vs. performance. They're pretty neat. :)

Ouch. It doesn't even hold up well to the old AMD stuff. :(

Pretty disappointing to say the least. Here are some of my thoughts.

Everybody is saying that BD is a server chip and designed for those workloads. That maybe true, but in its current form with power draw this high it wont be widely used. Some supercomputers like the recently announced cray one for DoE use it but in it all the heavy calculations are done by tesla gpus. Cpu is just there to feed data. Another problem is the mobile front. Contrary to popular intel makes most revenue from notebook and portable computing market and not servers. I really dont see BD becoming a viable laptop cpu anytime soon. Piledriver based apus are all desktop AFAIK. The ipc decrease compared to thuban is really disappointing and i havent seen anybody explain its reasons clearly. Even in some benches like FMA4 where BD should be ahead its still behind phenom. Its cache is nearly three times slower than SB, so initially i thought it was the issue but then i saw that it was as fast as thuban. So maybe the BD architecture needs a much improved cache system. Lastly i think a huge chunk of the problems lies with GF. Their 32nm is not looking good at all.

After the way everyone was banging on about how great Bulldozer was going to be, this is staggeringly unimpressive to say the least! Granted i've only read one review (Anandtech) but i doubt that's an exception to general consensus about the FX-8150, judging from the tone of this thread.

Do read techreport's review especially the end part.

OK, you've got to have a healthy sense of humour with this one.

This is one the best 'Hitler' parodies from the film 'Downfall' yet:

There seems to be a great sense of diplomatic writing in the conclusion part of that review... :lol:

Absolutely. Also the avx page. The results are downright weird. But all this points to a serious bug which will be fixed in the next version.(the cache aliasing bug)

The cache has a case of jaggies? Maybe they could borrow some MSAA from their GPU gurus? :lol:
