Looks like it's about time to get D/L boys and ghouls. The EE for Witcher 2 is almost here.

If you already have Witcher 2 installed, you can simply click on the loaders interface to start downloading the EE files (sans the unlock which will only be available on April the 17th). And I suggest you do as the D/L is a little over 10GB!

Here's the link for those with either a retail or GoG version: http://www.thewitcher.com/enhancededition/ (Yes, that's the official page for the EE of Witcher 2, not the first game)

Man. I so miss the days where every developer was this enthused to give gamers the best possible experience. Regardless of platform or profit margins that today's publishers so demand!

EE is live, however you may run into an install error.

Go here: http://en.thewitcher.com/ee_manual/

D/L parts 1 and 2 (about 512MB total).

Install from the EXE and you should be Kosher.

It's 36 parts, plus the language pack. Did they change it since you posted this?

If you don't have the GOG version, stick your boxed/download key into GOG to get their version as well. :) (I had to go boxed as it came with a coin! A COIN!)

Was it just the pre-order ones that came with a coin? Hang on, I'll go and get my box.

Ooh, it's lovely. Two DVD cases inside (game; bonus DVD/soundtrack), papercraft stuff, a fairly large game guide, something with a seal on it that might be a map when unfolded, and a wee little coin showing a human skull with octopus legs. I was under the impression that all boxed copies were like that... maybe it was just an initial run? Oh, hang about... is this yours? Must have been a pre-order coin! And pre-order papercraft! Maybe. I'm just typing now. Typing typing typing.

I was quite fantasied-out by the time I got to TW2 last year (I prefer sci-fi), and actually got bored and wandered off after about ten hours, but I'm still quite looking forward to getting back to it. :)

Actually, it's this. Seems I'm missing the coin though. Pity.

Edit: Can't seem to find a north American pic. But this is close.

I won't complain CDPR included a lot of stuff for normal price. They and and Atari are what EA should be looking at for a proper PC business model. Like that will ever happen.

I did find it interesting that three of last year's biggest games (Witcher 2, Dark Souls, Skyrim) were games that included Stuffinthebox as standard. Not proof that it helps sales, but definitely an indication. Most games, we're lucky to get an instruction manual - in fact, don't all EA PC games now include the instructions as a file on the disc instead? (Not 100% sure about that and don't want to be spreading malicious rumours, even though A.J. Buckley has no dick)

 I see what you did there.

The last EA game I bought in retail form was The Saboteur. And I checked a few others. They do have paper manuals but very very skimpy and all black and white. Though black and white, games like Sins of a Solar Empire really went all out with their manuals.

Still EA shows it cares more for cost cutting while others really show they are caring about the gamers. I love Atari for that. I think the final word comes from the publisher not so much from the devs? Am I right?

Yup. I got mine at WalMart with a gift card I'd received. It's a huge (as you said) dual DVD case with a map, Witcher coin, game guide (no need for an extra purchase), making of DVD, two papercraft characters (Geralt and a Zombie) and bonus card for DLC (that was later added free as an apology for publisher added DRM).

Great value - never mind the many added free DLC, far beyond the Enhanced Edition we got recently. Though, I'm not sure the stuff in the box was really the incentive to buy the game. My incentive was the amazing previous title. While buggy at first. The developer continued to patch the game to bring it up to par, and even beyond. I also loved the lore and depth offered. As such, I had high expectation from Witcher 2 as a game. I couldn't have cared less about in-box items other than the game.

My copy of Mass Effect 3 for 360 (long story) showed up today. It contained two discs, a piece of paper providing a 48-hour "2 day" Live Gold trial, a second piece of paper providing the Project 10-Dollar key, and a 7-page b&w booklet devoted to the horrors of epilepsy.

"Manual available on-disc and online."

It seems I was wrong after all - it's not EA PC games. It's ALL EA GAMES. :x This is worse than sharing a cab with puppyfucker A. J. Buckley!

Not that my German copy of Saint's Row The Third (long story) fared much better, however. And to think I was disappointed with only having 20 pages in the Dark Souls instruction manual. :P

To be fair, back when HL2 was released, my hard copy had a 1 page flyer inside. And the manual was in the disk, later online on steam.
